Study finds marriage may last longer if couple met online

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS)- A recent study found couples that met online are more likely to have their marriages last longer.

"I got interested in him because he had a quote from a movie that a lot of people aren't really familiar with and I thought this guy must have a great sense of humor because he likes the same things I do," said Chrissie Shay, who met her husband online 3 years ago. "I used to be a waitress and he used to be one of my regular customers and he said he was always too shy to ask me out on a date because he didn't know how you did that when the girl was working. He thought it was rude."

So online gave Shay's husband that outlet and they have been married for two years now.

"A lot of people who wind up dating online are committed in the first place," said Tammy Hargis with New Vision Counseling.

Keep personal items safe at water park

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS)- As more and more people are spending their days at the pool, the folks at Cape Splash are getting more reports about personal items missing from guests.

The park supervisor says it's not any worse than in previous years, but it's not a good idea to leave your wallet or cell phone unattended at the park.

"Our facility is extremely safe," said Patricia Watson, the aquatic supervisor at Cape Splash. "It's extremely fun, um, and just to keep that experience safe and fun. I encourage you to lock up your valuables. We have a locker system. Keep things in your car and don't leave things unattended."

Cape Girardeau police are notified when things are stolen at Cape Splash.
