Captain Proffer honored with Award during National Law Enforcement Week

JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - It's National Law Enforcement Week, a week designed to honor peace officers across the country.

Tuesday morning, Cape Girardeau County Sheriff John Jordan presented the Timothy J. Ruopp Award to Captain Clann Proffer.

That award is presented as the highest tribute for outstanding service to the department, community, and fellow officers.

Proffer has been with the department since 1981.

"A lot of times it's a thankless job and here in some cases their own peers are having input as to their importance and I think that speaks volumes to the officers themselves," said Sheriff Jordan.

During Tuesday's ceremony, the sheriff also handed out the Copeland Excellence Award to employees in each division of his department.
