A Judge Thursday ordered Clay Waller to be held without bond pending trial.

This decision was made in a detention hearing on Thursday, according to US Asst. Atty. Larry Ferrell.

Ferrell says Judge Lewis M. Blanton issued an order of detention citing that Waller would be a potential danger to the community if released on bond and a risk for not appearing in court.

The court found that credible testimony and evidence submitted at the detention hearing "establishes by clear and convincing evidence that Waller's release on bond would constitute a danger to the community, and that here is a serious risk that Waller will endanger the safety of another person or the community," said Ferrell.

The order was established due to the court finding credible testimony and evidence submitted at the detention hearing, Ferrell said.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Second Annual Art Show of Cape Public Schools Art Educators opened recently during the Cape Art Walk at the Black Door Gallery at 124 South Spanish.

According to the district, two new teachers joined the faculty this year, Holly Cochrane of Blanchard and Clippard Elementary Schools will be displaying a porcelain landscape and some functional landscape cups and bowls, and Carlynn Forst of Cape Central High School will be showing three mixed-media sculptural works with found objects.

Other teachers will be showing the following:

• Lawrence Brookins of Alternative Education Center - an acrylic and water color painting
• Sculpture teacher Robert Friedrich of Cape Central High School - three sculptures from different types of wood and found objects
• Kim Holman of Franklin and Clippard Elementary Schools - shares her batiks
• Donna Richardet of Cape Central Middle School - a weaving and two macrame

Gov. Jay Nixon asked the Secretary of Agriculture to designate 101 Missouri counties as primary disaster areas.

The designation will permit farmers who have suffered losses to crops and property from excessive heat and severe drought to receive assistance from the USDA's Farm Service Agency.
