Teams have been playing at Houck Stadium at Southeast Missouri State University since 1930. The $2.9 million stadium was paid for by a $40 million bond. We're told the turf alone cost nearly $800,000.

Jackson water flushing program to start Sept. 6

Jackson water flushing program to start Sept. 6

JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - The city of Jackson announced Friday they will start flushing the water distribution system and hydrant system on the west side of town starting Tuesday, September 6.

The city says the flushing program will continue daily between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. until it is finished.

Fire department crews flush water mains and hydrants once a year to remove any mineral sediment that builds up in the pipes, improve water quality and to maintain the valves and hydrants in the system. The city says because the water supply is a loop-type system, every household, business and industry may be impacted regardless of the location of the flushing.

According to the city, while flushing doesn't affect the safety of the water supply, water may appear cloudy or discolored while the lines are flushed because of a temporary stirring of sediments.
