Jacque Waller case gets national attention
It's a story that has touched the Heartland, and now her story is now reaching a national audience.
Jacque Waller disappeared more than six weeks ago, and her family hopes the national spotlight will spark new leads. Her blue Honda Pilot was left abandoned on June 1 at the 104.8 mile marker off interstate 55 northbound near the Fruitland exit.
Investigators hope someone traveling through the area noticed something.
"We hope someone saw something out there, possibly someone on vacation who drove 55," said Jackson Police Chief James Humphreys.
But is national attention a good thing? A man who knows all to well is Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter.
"48 Hours Mystery" aired a story about the Mischelle Lawless murder. Lawless was 19 when she was killed in Scott County in 1992. Walter keeps a picture of her on his desk to remind him to never give up on the case.
