CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau County has been awarded several thousand dollars for emergency food and shelter programs.
The federal emergency management agency has awarded the county more than $26,000.
A local board made up of representatives from the United Way, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, and several other agencies will decide how the money will be distributed.
To qualify, groups must be voluntary non-profits or units of government and must show it can offer emergency food or shelter programs.
To apply, call Nancy Jernigan at the United Way of Southeast Missouri.
Groups have until December 20. to apply.
