8th Annual Wooley Creek School Bluegrass Festival, School History Days | Arts & Culture
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Wooley Creek Community Association’s 8th Annual Bluegrass Festival and Annual School History Days is coming up.
Gates and One Room School house will open at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12. Food will also be available starting at 4 p.m. The menu will include a fish fry, pulled pork, brisket, pork tenderloin, hamburgers and all the fixings. Music will start at 5 pm. Admission is $10 for all three days.
You can sit in the old school house and listen to the tales of life back in the early 1900’s as some of the original students reminisce. Or browse through the pictures and other memorabilia; check out the original potbellied stove, see old school bell and school records.
At 6 p.m. there will be an auction with antiques, primitives and collectibles. Music starts again at 7 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m.
Come back on Saturday and listen to our 6 bands including the host band “Missouri Boatride”. As a special treat “The Cleverly’s” will be performing at 5 p.m. They recently performed at the Ozark Empire Fair.
Throughout the Festival raffle tickets will be sold to auction off a handmade queen size quilt made by former student Vada Wilson nee Stone. Quilt donated by Vada Wilson’s family. Drawing to be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. Winner need not be present to win.
This will be a special gathering for all Wooley Creek School former students, teachers, friends and neighbors. If you have an interest in local history, old one room school history or are a Bluegrass music fan, this is a weekend of memories to be made.
The festival is located is at the Wooley Creek School about 3.5 miles west of Cape Fair.
Free Parking and Primitive camping sites are available next to the school grounds. No charge for camp sites.
