42nd Annual Arts and Crafts Extravaganza | Arts & Culture

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is excited to announce the 42nd Annual Arts and Crafts Extravaganza will be held November 17-18 at the Osage Centre and Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. 

The craft show will feature more than 300 high quality crafters, including many of the finest artisans from across the Midwest. Organizers say last year over 12,000 visitors came through the doors at both locations, making it one of the largest craft fairs in the Southeast Missouri region.

According to the arts council, each booth must sell ONLY handmade items and, as a requirement, must pass a rigorous inspection process to participate in the Extravaganza. After the inspection, judges will select and name one booth "Best of Show", per each location, for the 2012 fair.

Make ready for the holidays with homemade Christmas candy, fresh roasted nuts, savory holiday dips and sauces, honey, apple and sourdough breads, homemade jelly and salsa, fabulous fudge, and baked goods.

The craft fair will also feature home enhancing décor like sculptures, framed original art and photography, handmade pottery, leather goods, gourmet dog treats and fashions, wearable art, wood items of every description, toys, knitted, quilted and baby apparel, fabulous wreaths and table decorations, and an array of jewelry. 

New this year, the Show Me Center location will also spotlight male crafters and artisans in a special section labeled "The Depot." The Depot will feature antler artwork, nature photography, handmade guitars, metalworking, and woodworking in many forms. Demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the course of the weekend.

This year's show will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Just one ticket is good for admission to both huge locations. Cost for Saturday and Sunday is $5. Sunday is only $3.
