Wi-Fi bed could be the 'new thing'

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The bed of the future could be here today.

You can test out the "Made for Mobile" bed with a buil-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity right here in Cape Girardeau.

According to the store, the 7S (Supreme) adjustable base by Reverie is the first bed to offer a remote control app for tablets and smartphones, available through Apple iTunes and Google Play. You can use the app to put your head up, feet down, massage or go into a "zero-gravity" position.

They say with app will event let you control other appliances in the room like channel-surfing on the TV and turning the lamps on and off.

This "futuristic" bed is at the Cape Girardeau location at 1809 North Kingshighway Street.

Southeast Missouri Food Bank receives $2,000 grant

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Southeast Missouri Food Bank has received a $2,000 grant.

According to the Food Bank, he grant is part of the Restaurant Community Grants program from the Darden Foundation.

The grants program is in its second year. The grant helps each Darden-owned restaurant help award a $1,000 grant to support local community programs, according to the Food Bank.

The donation will support Southeast Missouri Food Bank’s BackPacks For Friday program to Cape Girardeau schools.

“The support from our local Darden partners, Olive Garden and Red Lobster, has been incredible,” said Karen Green, Southeast Missouri Food Bank’s Executive Director “not only do they financially support the program, but throughout the year employees volunteer their time to help further the Food Bank’s mission.”

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Plaza Tire in Cape Girardeau has opened their group's new location in Cape Girardeau.

Their newly constructed business location is at 170 South Kingshighway across from Hobby Lobby.

Thursday the business is hosting an open house with appetizers and drinks from 5-7 p.m.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - It's almost time for sun and fun at Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center.

The fourth season to "splash" begins on Saturday, May 25.

The park will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Labor Day.

Reduced hours will begin on Aug. 14.

State Treasurer offers financial "spring cleaning" checklist

JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KFVS) - State Treasurer Clint Zweifel is providing Missourians a financial “spring cleaning” checklist.

Zweifel says he hopes Missourians will use to keep their finances in order and their property from becoming unclaimed property.

“There are a few simple steps each of us can take on a regular basis to keep our records up-to-date and our estates in order,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “It is important that we check on our accounts, safe deposit boxes, life insurance policies and wills. By making sure that our contact information is correct, our fees are paid up and changes made, Missourians can help keep their property where it belongs and avoid having to file Unclaimed Property claims to get it back.”

Here are a few “spring cleaning” tips for your finances from Zweifel:

1.      Make sure your bank has your current information. If you have moved or changed your name, be sure to inform your bank.
