Civil War Roundtable, River Heritage Museum team up | Community Spirit

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - A series of lectures will be presented by the Cape Girardeau Civil War's Roundtable at the Cape River Heritage Museum.
At the opening on Saturday, July 14, Mike Hahn will be reflecting on letters written by soldiers from 2-3:15. And on Sunday, from 2-4 pm the Roundtable will be meeting. A guest speaker, Michael Comer will be discussing "Hunter- Dawson Civil War History" which focuses on the New Madrid area.
The series will continue on Saturday, July 21 from 2-3:15 pm, and our own Mike Shain will be a speaker, discussing letters that have been passed down in his family. And the final presentation will be given by Dub Suedekum on Saturday, July 28 from 2-3:15 pm. The lecture will focus on the life and times of Governor Claibourne Fox Jackson, who tried to persuade Missourians to leave the Union.
July is also the last month to see "Divided Loyalties: Civil War Documents from Missouri State Archives" at the museum. The traveling exhibit reflects the turmoil is Missouri from 1850s to the late 1870s.
Regular operating hours for the museum are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children and students
