Agritourism bus tour coming to Southeast Missouri | Community Spirit

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Agritourism Bus Tour will go through Southeast Missouri Aug. 24-25 and stop at agritourism destinations in Jackson, Cape Girardeau and Perryville.

The bus will be stopping at the Lazy L Safari Park in Cape Girardeau, Meier Horseshoe Pines of Jackson and Barrens Winery and Perryville Pumpkin Farm of Perryville.

“When we decided to open our walk-thru zoo the first thing I did was attend a similar conference to learn new ideas and confirm ideas that I had already considered to see if they would work or not,” said Vicki Lantz, Zoo Director at Lazy L Safari Park and a Missouri Farm Bureau Agritourism Committee Member.

Participating in this type of tour and conference is a must for anyone that is currently involved in agritourism or is considering diversifying their farm into an agritourism business.

After the tour, enjoy a wine and cheese networking reception, followed by dinner and a series of mini-workshops on business and marketing planning, networking in the tourism industry, and liability and insurance issues. Panel discussions on “marketing agritourism” will come from entrepreneurs who have learned what works in their businesses. Stay Saturday morning to learn about the Mississippi River Hills Association and then explore the over 50 Southeast Missouri agritourism sites on your own for the day.

The bus will leave at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, August 24. A $50 per person pre-registration by August 3 is necessary and will be honored on a first-come, first-serve basis. A block of hotel rooms is being held at the Auburn Place Hotel & Suites at a discounted rate.
