JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - Running events 4 Miles 4 Youth and 1/4 Mile Youth Justice Jog will be Sunday, October 7 at 4 p.m. as part of National Youth Justice Awareness Month.

The events will be at Jackson City Park, pavilion 1 on Parkview Street. Other events will be in Sikeston, St. Louis and at the Lake of the Ozarks during the fall Missouri Juvenile Justice Association Conference.

National Youth Justice Awareness Month was created four years ago by a Missouri parent, Tracy McClard, whose 16-year-old son, Jonathan, was tried, sentenced and incarcerated in an adult prison.

Throughout the month of October, volunteers and organizations in 20 states will be hosting over 30 events that will draw awareness to the issue of trying, sentencing and incarcerating youth in the adult criminal justice system.
