CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Hundreds of walkers showed up to the Out of the Darkness Community Walk that was held Sunday.
Check-in and registration was from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the walk began at 12 p.m.
The suicide prevention walk had 250 people at the walk today and raised over $14,000 according to a spokesperson with the event.
A balloon release, 50/50 drawing and door prizes, in addition to the race, benefited the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
AFSP is the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide.
Last year organizers raised $16,000.
