CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Southeast Missouri Food Bank has received a $30,000 donation to support the Truck to the  Table Mobile Food Pantry program.

The Archer Daniels Midland Company recently presented the check to the food bank.

"Southeast Missouri Food Bank is grateful to the Archer Daniels Midland Company for their support of the Truck to the Table program," said Karen Green, Executive Director of Southeast Missouri Food Bank. "Often, small, rural Southeast Missouri towns lack the resources to provide basic social services to families in need. This program fills gaps in emergency food assistance."

The Truck to the Table Mobile Food Pantry program was established in November 2009. Since that time, they say they have distributed food to over 57,000 Southeast Missouri families who struggle with hunger.

According to the food bank, Truck to the Table food distributions can be held on parking lots or at churches, community centers and other such places. Each distribution can serve up to 300 families, providing a variety of food items. The food bank says these items include not only frozen, boxed and canned foods, but fresh produce, bakery, dairy and meats. Distributions typically run three hours and are delivered in a beverage-style truck with roll-up bay doors and needs 20 volunteers to help with distribution.
