Cape Girardeau Chamber to officially run MAGNET organization | Community Spirit

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau Area MAGNET Board has signed a contract with Cape Chamber team to operate the MAGNET organization.

The MAGNET Board consists of representatives from Cape Girardeau County, City of Cape Girardeau, City of Jackson, City of Scott City and the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce. The Cape Chamber has operated the MAGNET organization for the past several months.

Since June, the MAGNET board has examined structures used by various economic development groups across the country, and found that many successful entities contract with Chambers to provide the services.

"The MAGNET board believes contracting with the Cape Chamber team is the best approach for all parties involved," said Board Chairman Harry Rediger. "They have certainly shown us over the last several months that they are capable of moving the organization forward."

The Chamber says they will use a team approach and utilize the strengths of area partners and board members to accomplish the mission of MAGNET.

MAGNET is a not-for-profit economic development organization working with expanding and relocating companies who are considering a location in the greater Cape Girardeau, Mo. area.
