CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau Historic Preservation Commission is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Endangered Buildings List.
The Commission created the list in 2012 to promote awareness of historic buildings in the community that are "at risk" of being lost due to pending demolition, physical deterioration, and/or long term vacancy. Nominations may be submitted through the city's website by clicking here, by e-mail to rshrimplin@cityofcape.org or by mail to:
Cape Girardeau Historic Preservation Commission
401 Independence Street
Cape Girardeau, MO 63703
Those submitting a nomination are asked to include a statement explaining the building's historic significance, why they believe it is endangered and suggestions for what measures could be taken to save it.
The deadline for submitting nominations is March 1, 2013. The HPC will review nominations on March 20 and finalize the list on April 17. Both meetings are open to the public and will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 401 Independence Street.
