CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce will soon receive a funding boost to help attract more visitors to the area.
State Rep. Donna Lichtenegger announced the decision of the Missouri Division of Tourism to award more than $37,000 to the Chamber.
Lichtenegger said the money was awarded through the division’s Cooperative Marketing Program and will be used for marketing and advertising projects to help promote the area as a tourist destination.
“We are blessed to live in an area rich with unique history and natural beauty. Advertising will help increase the amount of visitors and business in our area.” said Lichtenegger, R-Cape Girardeau. "I have no doubt the Cape Girardeau Chamber will make good use of these funds. I applaud them for their continued efforts to make Southeast Missouri and Cape Girardeau community an attractive place for families to live, work and thrive."
Lichtenegger said the Cooperative Marketing funds can be utilized for media advertising and a variety of other marketing and promotional activities designed to attract additional visitors and boost visitor spending in Missouri.
The Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce will match each dollar of the more than $37,000 in state funding with a dollar of local funds.
