Man arrested after attempted robbery of Dollar General | Crime
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - A Cape Girardeau man faces attempted robbery charges after police say he tried to rob a Dollar General store.
Phil. V. Mattingly, 44, of Cape Girardeau is charged with attempted armed robbery in the 1st degree and armed criminal action.
Cape Girardeau police say Mattingly entered the Dollar General at 64 S. Plaza Way on Thursday, Jan. 31 just before 9 p.m., displayed a knife, and demanded money from an employee.
Police say Mattingly left the business when other employees saw him.
Officers found Mattingly walking at the intersection of William Street and Louis Street.
He was taken to the Cape Girardeau County Jail on $100,000 bond.
