City of Cape plans to fight sinkholes | Environment
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The city of Cape Girardeau has a plan to fight against sinkholes near the Cape LaCroix Creek.
The sinkholes have posed a problem for years, most recently last Spring.
City leaders want to construct a line to block water flow from the creek through the ground. That is what causes the sinkhole.
City manager Scott Meyer says they found out last week a federal grant will pay for about one tenth of the estimated $1 million project.
Meyer says one they secure more federal and state funding, they're create a specific action plan.
