"Fill the Van with Fans" campaign launches Sat. | Events
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The first ever "Fill the Van with Fans" campaign collection will be Saturday, June 9 at Fred's Discount Store from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The "Fans for Friends" campaign will start Monday, June 18 at The Salvation Army, 701 Goodhope Street, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. until all of the donated and purchased fans are gone.
The Salvation Army will have a van to fill with new and working used fans as well as accepting cash donation at Fred's Discount Store, 121 S. Sprigg Street.
According to the Salvation Army, you can also drop off new and used fans to them on Monday, June 11 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. through June 15. Fans will start to be distributed on Monday, June 18 at 9 a.m.
"We have over 204 fans now and are hoping to be able to get and give out all the new and used fans we will be receiving before June 18," said Major Beth Stillwell.
Tina Rodgers, a Salvation Army case worker, said anyone in need of a fan due to the heat and who did not receive a fan last year may apply to receive a fan.
The Salvation Army says they gave out 225 fans last year and hope to receive at least 250 with this campaign.
