Project Stand-Down helps homeless | Events

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - The Project Homeless Connect-Veteran Stand-Down is the kick-off of several area events to help the homeless and particularly the homeless veteran.
The event is returning to the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is described as a "one-day one-stop shop" providing services and resources to people who are homeless or at risk for being homeless.
Resources and services that will be available include: housing, employment and educational opportunities, health care services and screenings, personal care services, clothing, food, transportation and utility assistance applications.
Over 30 partnering agencies are helping out with the event.
Arrangements to volunteer or donate items can be made by contacting VA Homeless Coordinator Kristina Bowlby at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center at 573-778-4724.
Other locations targeted for the Veteran's Stand-Down include VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinics at:
- Farmington - September 18
- Cape Girardeau - September 19
- Sikeston - September 20
All events take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
