Blood drive in Cape Girardeau | Events

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The American Red Cross will host several blood drives during the end of July in Cape Girardeau.

According to the Red Cross, the following blood drive will be open:

• July 22 - Osage Community Centre, 1625 North Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau, Mo. (12 p.m. to 6 p.m.)

The American Red Cross encourages potential donors to "beat the heat," drink plenty of fluids, eat a well-balanced meal and donate blood at an air-conditioned blood drive or center.

“Patients need blood regardless of the summer heat,” said Scott L. Caswell, CEO, Red Cross Biomedical Services, Missouri-Illinois Region. “We sincerely appreciate our committed donors who are willing to endure the heat, and get out to donate blood.  Their attempt to help a stranger in need is truly heroic.”

Anyone who donates blood by September 5 will be automatically entered into a drawing for a $250 gas card and will have an opportunity to buy discounted Rams tickets. On Labor Day weekend, anyone donating blood Friday through Monday will automatically be entered into a drawing to win a $1,000 gas card.

Also, anyone who donates blood up to September 14 will automatically be entered into the Red Cross's "Summer Drive Sweepstakes" to win a brand new 2012, red metallic Ford Fiesta SE from the Ford Motor Company. The one winner will be selected randomly on Monday, September 19.
