CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The MDA Heartland Muscle Walk will be Saturday, April 27 at the West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Saxony Village retirement community to host Bridge Party May 23

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Saxony Village Retirement Community is hosting an area-wide Bridge Party at Saxony Manor on Thursday, May 23 at 1:30 p.m.

The Bridge Party is open to the public and will be held in the Saxony Manor common area. Participants will play “Party Bridge” and are encouraged to pre-register in groups of four by calling 573-986-6290 or logging on to saxonyvillage.com. Registration is free and prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Sign-in for the Bridge Party will begin at 12:45 p.m. and play will begin at 1:30 pm. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served. Participants will also have an opportunity to tour Saxony Village’s amenities, including the fitness center and upscale dining facilities.

Wine Tasting event at the Oliver House Museum May 5

JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - The Jackson Heritage Association presents a Wine Tasting event at the Oliver House Museum on Sunday, May 5 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is $20 per person and includes wine, appetizers, entertainment, a tour of the Oliver House and more.

The Oliver House Museum is located at 224 East Adams Street in Jackson, Mo.

Holocaust Remembrance Day event at Southeast cancelled

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Southeast Missouri State University says the Holocaust Remembrance Day event scheduled for Wednesday, April 24 has been cancelled.

The event was to be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center, located at the River Campus.

Put-put golf tournament to benefit

Put-put golf tournament to benefit

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - There will be a put-put golf tournament on April 27 at Arena Golf in Cape Girardeau to benefit Life Skills Touchpoint Autism Services.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. The tournament starts at 10 a.m. Ages four and up are invited to compete.

The entry fee is $10 and includes a snack and a drink.

Medals will be awarded for first through third place in each age group.

Mo. Speaker, prosecutor to address conceal/carry

Mo. Speaker, prosecutor to address conceal/carry

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -  Missouri House Speaker Tim Jones will hold a public forum in Cape Girardeau on Monday, April 22.

According to Jones, it will be to discuss the topic of  concealed carry permit holders information being sent to an investigator working on a joint project with the Social Security Administration and the ATF.  

According to the Associated Press, Federal investigators never used the information.

Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Russ Oliver will be joining the Speaker for the event.

The event will take place at the Common Pleas Courthouse on 44 North Lorimier in Cape Girardeau at 2 p.m.

22 candidates will take the oath as new citizens in May

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -  There will be a Naturalization Ceremony at the Rush Hudson Limbaugh, Sr. U.S. Courthouse on May 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. 

Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh, Jr. will be presiding over the ceremony.

Twenty-two  candidates are expected to be sworn in as new citizens.

 Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster will be the guest speaker. 

The public is welcome to attend.
