Pro-Cannabis group speaks in Cape Girardeau | News
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS)- Should marijuana be legalizedin the Show-Me state?
Representatives from Show-MeCannabis, a group that is traveling the state to promote their ideas, spoke to acrowd at the Cape Girardeau Public Library about why they believe marijuanacould be beneficial to Missouri.
They talked abouteverything from taxation to enforcement to medical purposes.
People from both sides ofthe issue came out and expressed their opinions.
One man who says his relative suffers from CerebralPalsy. That relative recently switched to marijuana as a form of treatment, andhe says she's seeing results.
"One of the more longer medicines she used in that time period wasactually an injection," said Dustin Masterson. "That caused a lot ofpain and bruising and long term effects to her body. She still has the marksfrom the shots she used for 10 years. And more recently she's found comfort inCannabis."
There were more than 200likes and 200 comments on the KFVS12 Facebook page ranging from support, tothose who don't agree with it.
Another issue that wasbrought at the forum was hemp.
According to the presenters,Missouri was the second leading producer only trailing another Heartland state,Kentucky.
Right now, the law also allowsconsumers to buy products made of hemp but farmers can't produce it.
