News

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS)- There
was a huge turnout Saturday for one of the Heartland's biggest races.

It
was a real record breaker for the Third Annual Hoops for Life 5k run/walk in Cape
Girardeau.

More
than 650 people participated in the event.

Organizer
Shannon Aldridge called the race the second hardest race in Missouri.

Money
raced from the event benefits childhood cancer research.

It's
in memory of Sahara Aldridge who died from a brain tumor nearly five years ago.

Her
parents continue to fight to make sure no other families have to endure the
pain of cancer.

Saturday
night at the River Campus in Cape Girardeau rocker Rick Springfield will
perform a benefit concert as well.

Springfield
has performed in Cape Girardeau two other times, all in honor of Sahara.
