Cape Girardeau police investigate credit union robbery

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS)- Cape Girardeau police are investigating a robbery at a credit union.

It happened at the Cape Regional Credit Union at 2427 Cape Center Drive.

Darin Hickey with the Cape Girardeau Police Department says a hold up alarm came in at 9:37 a.m.

The suspect was last seen running away on foot with some cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, mid 20s, 6'3"-6'5", wearing a long sleeve striped dress shirt, blue baseball cap with flat bill, black jeans, and white shoes.

He told the teller he had a weapon, handed a the teller a note. The teller never saw a weapon because he had his hand in a bag.

Police did recover a small amount of cash behind a nearby business.

Officers have the area surrounded searching for the suspect. A K-9 officer is also on scene.

Authorities also looked for the suspect by airplane.
