Teenager escapes uninjured from Cape Girardeau house fire

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - A teenage boy escaped his burning home Tuesday night.

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department said they got a call to the home on Patricia Street in Cape Girardeau just before 6 p.m. When they arrived, they say flames were shooting out of the garage. All four Cape Girardeau Fire Stations responded to the fire.

Firefighters said a smoke detector alerted the boy to the fire and he was able to get out ok. No one else was hurt either.

According to the fire department, the garage is a total loss and moderate fire and heat extended  into the kitchen area. Heavy smoke damage was reported throughout the entire house.

Neighbor Robert Brosey sent us these pictures of the damage.
