Person of interest questioned about Cape Girardeau County fire | News
CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS)- Authorities are investigating a Friday night mobile home fire that happened in Cape Girardeau County.
Around 8 p.m. Friday, firefighters rushed to a mobile home fire on Lindsey Lane, just off of Highway 177 near trail of Tears State Park.
Fruitland and East County firefighters worked to put out the fire.
According to Lt. David James with the Cape Girardeau Sheriff's Office, the sheriff's office investigated the incident and arrested a male person of interest in connection with the fire.
That person was released pending formal review on possible charges.
Fruitland Fire Chief Dean Riley says the trailer house was in the process of being torn down and had nobody living inside of it.
Riley says the homeowners were arguing with another person throughout the day on Friday.
He says that person threatened to light the house on fire on more than one occasion.
Later that night, Riley says that person set a fire that caused the trailer to catch fire. He says that person was taken into custody by deputies.
Lindsey Lane was blocked and closed to traffic during the fire due to firefighting efforts there.
Firefighters say no one was hurt.
The case is still under investigation.
