CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS)- A Cape Girardeau church is celebrating its centennial anniversary.
The 100th anniversary celebration took place Sunday morning at the Maple United Methodist Church on Jean Ann Drive.
Members say much of the work building the church was done by carpenters interested in the church and Sunday School.
After some manual labor and money raised for the materials, the church was built in the summer of 1912.
The church has went through some growth over the years, but also some hardships. In 1958 a fire badly damaged the church to the point that it had to be rebuilt.
