New store taking a 'swing' at Cape Girardeau | News

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS)- A new sporting goods store is coming to Cape Girardeau.

City officials say Academy Sports+Outdoors has applied for and received a building permit to build new facility off Siemers Drive.

The location for new retail business is between Sam's and Kohls.

According to the company's website:

-They currently operate 144 stores

-They have hunting, fishing and camping equipment along with sports equipment and footwear, etc.

-They recently opened a store in Jonesboro Arkansas. This new store brought 150 new jobs to the area.

No word on how many jobs the store will bring to Cape Girardeau or when construction on the store may start.
