'Cans Film Festival' brings in food for the Salvation Army | News

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS)- It has been a very busy day at Wehrenberg Cape West Theater, but not because of the latest blockbuster.
Movie watchers came to the "Cans Film Festival" to donate canned food to help the Salvation Army.
In exchange for the food, people who brought in five cans got to see a free movie.
According to Salvation Army, 28,915 cans were donated as of 1 p.m. Saturday.
Saturday they collected 45783 cans and had a total of 143 volunteers. Their goal was 48,036 cans, to beat last year's total of 48,035.
Dozens of volunteers are collecting the cans for the drive that ends at 5 p.m.
