CAPE GIRARDEAU (KFVS)- A ceremony to pay tribute to and remember the events that took place on Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in downtown Cape Girardeau.
The event will take place at the river wall at Broadway and Water Street.
Special guests will be in attendance and veterans will cast wreaths into the Mississippi River to honor those who lost their lives.
The memorial is being hosted by the Cape Girardeau Veterans of Foreign War.
This is the fifth year the VFW has hosted such an event.
The ceremony is free and open to the public.
On December 7, 1941, Japanese airplanes bombed Pearl Harbor, propelling the United States into WW II.
