Sheriff Jordan not seeking nomination to replace Emerson

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau County Sheriff John D. Jordan announced Thursday, January 3 he is not seeking the nomination to replace retiring Congresswoman JoAnn Emerson.

Jordan said he is grateful and flattered for being considered as a possible candidate for the 8th Congressional District Seat. He said he is humbled beyond measure to be considered to seek the congressional seat, but he is happy being sheriff.

"Even more humbling is that after hinting this might be my last term, I've been bombarded by staff and the public in general encouraging me to run for sheriff one more time in 2016," Redmon said. "Lord willing and my health is good, I will likely run for sheriff one more time."
