CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Officials say preliminary reports indicate first-day 2013 spring semester enrollment is up 3.4 percent at Southeast Missouri State University over this time last year.

Classes at Southeast began January 14.

The following numbers were released Wednesday by the university:

-Combined undergraduate and graduate student headcount is 10,502, up from 10,154 in 2012.

-International student headcount is 813, up from 624 at this time in 2012.

-Student enrollment is up 8.2 percent due to students from other institutions taking advantage of Southeast's winter intersession courses.

Student winter intersessions are included in spring 2013 enrollment figures, according to the university.
