CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS)- A possible plea deal is in the works for a former Southeast Missouri State student accused of plotting to blow up the Federal Reserve in New York.

According to a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Brooklyn, attorneys for Quazi Nafis are working on a plea bargain with the prosecutor on the case.

Nafis was arrested in October. He is charged with using a weapon of mass destruction and trying to provide material support to Al Qaeda.

The 21-year-old Bangladesh native is due back in court next month.
