JACKSON, MO (KFVS)- Students at Jackson High School got to experience the dangers of texting and driving first hand Monday.

Students got in the simulator and started driving. Then, they would get a text message.

As part of the drill, students were asked to try and respond to the message.

Most everyone crashed while trying to send a text.

Students say it was an eye opening experience.

"Maybe for a week or two after this it'll help and maybe some people it will help like with me I'm actually kinda scared to go drive now cause I know that it's not just me on the road. Somebody else could come at my side or from behind," said Jackson Senior Aimee Stockard.

After going through the simulation, students were asked to sign a pledge to not text and drive.
