MoDOT: most construction suspended for holiday weekend | News

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri Department of Transportation announced Friday they will be suspending most construction and maintenance work over Memorial Day holdiay weekend.
MoDOT will suspend construction to accommodate an increase of traffic over the holiday weekend.
Work stopped at noon on Friday and will resume Tuesday morning. However, some lane and bridge closures will stay in place.
"We want to do all we can so travelers can get where they're going quckly and safely this Memorial Day weekend," said MoDOT Director of Systems Management Don Hillis. "However, due to the nature of some of the work, it's likely some lanes will remain closed so we just want motorists to stay alert for changing road conditions."
Even though most of the work is stopping over the weekend, Hillis reminds drivers drive safely.
