Salvation Army's turkey drive underway

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Salvation Army's annual turkey drive is underway in Cape Girardeau.

Organizers say they are working to provide meals for more than 400 families this year.

According to Major Beth Stillwell, the requests for help are greater than last year and they want to make sure everyone gets a holiday meal.

"We're preparing for over 1,400 meals to be served and delivered on Thursday," said Major Ben Stillwell. "As well as we know we have at least 435 families that have applied and been accepted, approved to receive the traditional Christmas Day meal."

The turkey drive will continue until Wednesday. They are taking donations at Schnucks between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. each evening.

They are also looking for side dishes to serve with the turkey. You can drop those off at the salvation Army's buildling on Good Hope.
