Annual hydrant testing to begin in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau Fire Department and Alliance Water Resources will conduct their annual hydrant testing throughout the city starting Wednesday, April 18.

The city says testing will be between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. until about May 5.

During testing, the city says residents may notice a slight water discoloration. Run water for about one minute if you notice discoloration. The testing could create a slight decrease in water pressure, which should be minimal and last only a few minutes.

According to the city, testing allows the fire department and Alliance Water Resources to maximize the city's hydrants allowing potential issues to be addressed.
